RB Jones May Start Season on PUP List
Posted by Matt Loede on July 24th, 2007 filed in NewsLions running back Kevin Jones is still not 100 percent, and it looks as if there is a chance he may start training camp on
the dreaded PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list. Jones is still recovering from Lisfranc surgery and while he has made progress, it is not enough to put him on the field just yet. Sources say that it is 50-50 that Jones will able to start the season on time. The back has been running at full speed, but the word is he does not have enough confidence to make cuts. Jones spent the last two weeks in Arizona working out and doing stright-line running. Being on the PUP list means that Jones could sit as many as 6 games before the Lions have to decide if they would want to bring him back to the regular roster, or put him on the shelf for the season. The Lions signed free agents Tatum Bell and T.J. Duckett in the off-season and they’ve been very happy with their progress so far, putting less pressure on Jones to try and hurry back and risk any long term injury in the future.
