White Named Player Of The Week, Cason Re-Signed

Lions defensive end Dewayne White has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week.  White recorded a sack, an interception, seven tackles and forced two fumbles in Detroit’s 36-21 victory over the Raiders in the season opener. 

In other news, the team Wednesday re-signed running back Aveion Cason to take the place of T.J. Duckett.  Duckett sprained his ankle in Sunday’s game against Oakland and is expected to miss two-to-four weeks.  He did not practice yesterday and is not expected to play this weekend in the Lions’ home opener against the Vikings.
