Woody demoted

It appears for at least the short-term, Detroit Lions guard Damien Woody has been demoted to reserve status, according to Terry Foster of the Detroit News. His expected replacement would be Stephen Peterman. But to be fair, Woody has a rib injury; however, Peterman has played well enough to receive starts. He has started the last two games for the Lions.
Lions head coach Rod Martinelli had hinted earlier this week that Peterman was in the team’s plans, saying, “He battled. He was a mauler. He was not just doing his job, but he was hunting after that. He was going down and cleaning up people, going down field like I want him to, cleaning up piles, staying alive, finishing every play.” Woody said he was surprised by the move, but nonetheless plans to compete for the job.
