Lions to Dangle WR Williams for a Deal Before the Draft?

Williams

The rumor mill continues to churn with talk about the Lions looking to move wide out Roy Williams before April’s NFL Draft. Tom Kowlaski of MLive says that the team will put Williams out there on the trading block as the Lions would command at least a second round pick for his services. Williams will enter a contract year in 2008, and with the team heading into a different direction with last years number two overall pick wide out Calvin Johnson, it’s unlikely that the team would invest so much in one position on the field. Williams did have a solid 2007 before getting hurt late in the year, as in 12 games he caught 63 passes for 836 yards and five TD’s. His best year stats wise was 2006, when he caught 82 balls for 1310 yards and 7 TD’s. Teams like the Vikings, Eagles, Chiefs and Dolphins are going to spend the offseason looking to upgrade the wide out position and would take a long look at Williams.
