Report: Rogers To Leave Lions
Posted by Stephen Rhodes on January 23rd, 2008 filed in NewsSo much promise, so little productivity. At least those are the sentiments of the Detroit Lions; according to ESPN and verified by reports from out of Detroit, the team has decided to either trade or release defensive tackle Shaun Rogers. Rogers, who has served a four-game suspension for taking a banned dietary supplement and could face an 8-game suspension if he tests positive again, has 3 years remaining on his current contract.
Rogers had a good start to the season, capped by his performance against the Denver Broncos during Week 9, returning a 66-yard interception for a touchdown and recording 2 1/2 sacks; however, during the Lions’ 6-game losing streak, he basically vanished. Another issue, which may have contributed to the Lions’ decision, was the fact that Rogers’ conditioning and weight would become an issue.
