The Detroit Lions have traded DT Shaun Rogers to the Cincinnati Bengals for a third- and fifth-round pick in this year’s draft. Rogers had been rumored in several trades in recent days, including a proposed deal that would have sent him to Denver.

I doubt a 1st and 3rd will happen or a 2nd and 3rd. We may be talking about a switch of 1st rounders and some late round picks. I’d be very happy with a 2nd and 3rd though. That’s two cornerbacks in a very deep class.

In my fantasies they’d trade him to Miami for a switch in 1st round picks so they could draft Jake Long at LT and a 3rd or 4th rounder. If that happened, I might have to send flowers to Millen.

I think that Rogers should be shopped around the NFL. The problem is that Matt Million is the person who will end up making the deal. Do I really need to say anything else???

The Lions must get the D some help, and losing Rogers will be a problem but, if the Lions were to get multipal draft picks (1st and 3rd or 2nd and 3rd) the I would say get it done.

Again MATT MILLION…Better luck next year Lions…lol

Rogers left the game on a critcal third down during the Giants game. I can vividly remember Marinelli screaming at him after Eli converted for a first down.

Don’t let Shanny read this. I want a 2nd or 3rd rounder while we can get it.

I agree with you tyler, sure rogers would be great to keep around if he was in shape at training camp,diddnt pull himself out of the game whenever he wanted to, I can think of a few games where it was a critical down and they show him trotting off the field, trade him now while he is still worth something

Are we talking about the same Shaun Rogers here? Yeah let’s all ignore the last 8 games of the season and focus on the first half of the season when 92 was a beast. Only then does it make sense to keep him around. Roger’s pulled himself out of games on several occasions regardless of down, field position, or score. That doesn’t fit with Marinelli’s team ethics and it isn’t the kind of play that leads to championships. Besides, Denver seems rather desperate and it could lead to some great draft picks. The Lions used their first 2 picks last year on offense. This year ought to be about the defense and that means bringing in a lot of young players to fill some huge gaps. Trading Rogers certainly creates another hole on D, but it will likely fill, two or three.

It would be a terrible decision for the Lions to release Shaun Rogers. People seem to forget that he was the one being double and triple teamed every play, and it was Redding and the other D Tackles who couldn’t beat one guy.

What’s it take to keep a player around in Mo-town? Apparently a “a beast of a year” doesn’t do it. It’s moves like that, that keep us non – contenders each year.
