Lions Talking with Raiders About RB Jordan
Posted by Matt Loede on July 9th, 2008 filed in Rumors
The Raiders are stocked at running back already with rookie Darren McFadden, Michael Bush and the returning Justin Fargas. That means the odd man out will be former Jets back LaMont Jordan, who the team is actively seeking to deal. ESPN’s Hashmarks says that a deal may come down between the Raiders and Detroit Lions, a team that Jordan recently visited according to agent Alvin Keels.
The site says that it was a pre-trade visit arranged by the Raiders and Lions, and that it could set up a deal that would send Jordan to Detroit for a sixth or seventh-round draft choice back to the Raiders. Jordan will join his third team, as he started hie career with the Jets, then went to the Raiders back in 2005. Last season in 12 games he ran for 549 yards on 144 carries with three TD’s.
The writing about Jordan was on the wall when the team used the 4th pick in the draft on McFadden. The Lions need help at running back, and even went so far to attend the workout of a player they released not that long ago - Kevin Jones. Jordan will be 31 in November, so the Lions probably feel he has some gas left in the tank.

i think lamont has gas left in the tank…. mmm… maybe not. get that fool out of the raider nation. any professional who as a poor off season workout regumin is a tool in my book- quoted from warren sapp saying basically that lamont sucked. i think we has so much hope for him that he did not live up to. we need players that have the work ethic of fargas and the athleticism like mcfadden. i think the raiders should offer lamont with fargas or bush to get roy williams the wr. i think he would be a great fit in oakland. javon is not the answer.

Jordan and Fargas for Williams. Nice try, Williams was a first round pick and has been to a pro bowl, as an alternate, but he is one of the top 10 to 15 recievers in the league.
Detroit and Oakland are talking 6th or 7 round pick for Jordan, through in Fargas and get a talent like Williams. You must be dreaming.
Williams would not be traded for anything less than a 1st round pick, and even that is a gamble especially with Detroit’s poor record of drafting in the first round. This is the reason nothing happened with Dallas. They did not offer enough.
Williams will be a free agent next year anyway. If Detroit does not put the franchise tag on Williams the Raiders can make a run at him then.

McFadden was the fourth pick in the draft.

McFadden was not part of the discussion!

where the hell did mcfadden come from??? nice originality on the name slick mick. i know that was wishful thinking, but i thought they should have given the d.hall or j.walker deal to detroit for williams. if mike lombardi was not a jack ass he would have drafted williams instead of gallery that year. i never believed in dafting a line man in the top 5 picks. one can easliy pick one up via trade or free agency if the team interested tried hard enough. i thought we should’ve made a push to get faneca from pittsburg. back to j.walker…. why him, why not b.barrien from chicago. any way keep it slick!
