Rookie RB Smith Could Be Starter

Rookie Kevin Smith appears to have a shot at being the Lions starting running back.  Smith took several snaps with the first team during training camp yesterday.  Offensive coordinator Jim Colletto said he plans to utilize several backs when Detroit faces Cincinnati in their next preseason game.  Head coach Rod Marinelli said he was just working his players, however, and said people shouldn’t read too much into the situation.
