The Lions have asked for permission to talk to Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, but Rivera issued a statement Monday rejecting the chance to interview until after San Diego’s season is over.

“I don’t want to let anything distract from our objective,” Rivera said. He is considered a hot prospect on other teams’ lists but has taken himself out of consideration for the moment.
