The Lions today put another back in the backfield as they signed former Seahawks running back Maurice Morris. The team brings Morris in on a three-year, $7 million contract, according to the NFL Network.
Morris is 29, and has been with the Seahwks for the past seven seasons. Last season was tough for him, as he didn’t play all that much as the team forced the ball to free agent signings of Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett.
Morris ran for 574 yards on 132 carries and caught a pair of touchdowns in 13 games last campaign. He’ll be the backup to Kevin Smith. Morris has rushed for 2,612 yards and five touchdowns in 101 games with Seattle.
