The Drama that is Jay Cutler

Being a Lion fan out in Denver, you are constantly bombarded with Bronco talk. There is very little talk about their hookey, I mean hockey team, the Avalanche, anymore, and rightly so because they suck this year. Baseball season is upon us, but there is nary a peep about the Rockies. I’ts Bronco talk 24/7. Yesterday was to be the meeting to patch things up with quarterback Jay Cutler and the new coach Josh McDaniels. It really wasn’t a meeting, it was a conference call. Excuse me??

If I’m McDaniels and I want to keep Cutler, I would have gotten a plane last week and flown to wherever Cutler was, and hash this out. But McDaniels is not budging. He is strong in his stance that he did no wrong in trying to trade Cutler, and if Cutler has a problem with it, then too bad. That’s business. That’s great. Alienate the QB. Anyway, the meeting started out bad and then got worse. Nothing was resolved and Cutler still thinks that the Bronco’s are going to try and trade him. However, the Bronco’s are not actively seeking a trade right now, but it appears that now they will have no choice. Cutler has made up his mind that the new coach doesn’t like him and that McDaniels will jump at the first good deal he comes across.

In come the Lions. It’s no secret that they need a QB, and that they are looking to draft one either with the first pick, or the 20th. A fair trade for both teams would be to trade that 20th pick to Denver for Cutler. The Bronco’s can still get a QB at the 20th pick (K State’s Josh Freeman?) and get rid of the cancer that is building with Cutler. Heck at this point, I would even throw in Daunte Culpepper to sweeten the deal. The Lion’s immediately get a starting QB, and still have the first pick of the draft. Will it happen? Probably not, but it’s fun to speculate on these things

lol, “Daunte Culpepper to sweeten the deal”. Is this 1999? Remember in 2008, when no team wanted to sign him? Except the team that went 0-16?
