Lions Won’t Give USC QB Mark Sanchez a Private Workout

Reports say that the Lions will not be giving USC quarterback Mark Sanchez a private workout, unlike the one they will give to Georgia’s Matthew Stafford. But, reports say that the Lions would like to control part of Sanchez’s pro day if he’s willing, according to the Detroit Free Press. He will if he wants to be the first overall selection of the draft and get the contract that comes with it.

“I’m sure his agent will be open to it,” coach Jim Schwartz said today at the NFL owners’ meetings. “Sometimes those things are too tightly controlled. Other times you have that opportunity. Say there’s a 10 m.p.h. breeze. Flip him around, make him throw into the wind, be able to see more of a particular type of throw. That kind of thing.”
