Lions to Talk to Reps for Stafford and Smith This Week

The draft is a mere six days away, and it looks like the Lions are going to choose between QB Matthew Stafford or OL Jason Smith. The Washington Post says that they will keep talking to reps for both teams:

According to the league-owned NFL Network, the Detroit Lions are expected to contact the representatives for Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford and Baylor left tackle Jason Smith early in the week. Lions officials met over the weekend with the agents for Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry. The Lions, coming off the first 0-16 season in NFL history, have the top overall choice in the NFL draft Saturday and have indicated they will have discussions with several players.

Some say that it will simply come down to what player agrees to terms first. If that happens, I would think that Smith would be the choice, as you would think Stafford being a QB is going to want more money in the end. We shall see.
