Draft Day Winner

It looks like Neil Stein is the winner for our First Annual Draft Contest. He picked 7 correct choices to beat out Max by one correct pick. There were many surprises to this years draft, as there is in every year. It seems that some teams really do draft the best player available, regardless of need.

Take Seattle for instance. The took Aaron Curry when what they really needed was a receiver or a left tackle. The Broncos picked up 3 running backs in free agency, had one of the worst defense (besides the Lions) last year, and picked up the running back from Georgia, Knowshon Moreno.

Speaking of Denver, they traded their number 1 pick for next year to Seattle for the fifth pick in the second round this year. I’m not sure why that move was made. The Raiders needed a receiver, and they picked one, but it was the wrong one. They pick up Darrius Heywood Bey, and they passed up on Michael Crabtree.

Tampa Bay picks up QB Josh Feeman when they clearly needed a defensive tackle. Now they have 5 QB’s on their roster, including recently signed Byron Leftwich.

Of course, only time will tell how this draft class fares, but one thing is for certain, it will be debated and overly analyzed for a long time to come.
