Lions Claim CB Marcus McCauley Off Waivers from Vikings

The Detroit News reports that the Lions have claimed CB Marcus McCauley off waivers from the rival Vikings:

The Lions claimed cornerback Marcus McCauley off waivers from the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, a league source said. McCauley (6-foot-2, 203 pounds) was the odd man out in the competition for a final roster spot in the Vikings’ secondary this preseason. But he’s a 2007 third-round draft pick who started 10 games the last two seasons in Minnesota and his coverage skills might be better suited for the Lions’ plans than the Vikings’ Cover-2 scheme.

They grab a safety and cornerback just when they are supposed to trim the roster. Looks like they really wanted to beef up the secondary before the season got started. Good to see the Lions making moves for players.
