Lions Want More from Julian Peterson

The Detroit News says that the team needs more from linebacker Julian Peterson:

Julian Peterson practiced as the Lions’ starting strong-side linebacker Wednesday. Today, he’ll practice as a defensive end, in what is now a weekly routine for the five-time Pro Bowler. One man, two jobs. On Sunday, he’ll be a little of both, shuffling between positions depending on the situation. But asked just what his job title is, Peterson laughs. “I’m a man who’s willing to do anything they want me to do,” he said. “How about that?” That sounds about right, said defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham, who isn’t afraid to ask for more from an eight-year veteran whose play has been admittedly inconsistent in the Lions’ 1-3 start. “He’s got a lot on his plate, you know?” Cunningham said. “He plays in a lot of different looks and we move him around a lot. And I know he studied a lot for the Bears game, because I was on the bus with him, and I saw him working before the game, driving to the stadium, in the locker room. And he did a good job of preparing himself. “I think he’s just figuring out what this role really takes. He’s just kind of up and down right now, and I’m getting a little impatient. Hopefully, he’ll keep climbing off of last week’s game, because we need him to do that.”
