Pettigrew Lost For Season

Brandon Pettigrew

Not only did the Detroit Lions lose a game last Thursday (34-12 loss to Green Bay), they also lost their top draft pick from this past draft; Tom Kowalski from MLive.com reports that rookie tight end Brandon Pettigrew will have season-ending knee surgery.

Pettigrew injured his left knee during the first quarter of the Lion’s 34-12 loss to the Green Bay Packers last Thursday. The 20th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, Pettigrew is third on the team in catches with 29 for 334 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions are expected to put – assuming they haven’t done so already – Pettigrew on the injured reserve list and presumably sign another player to the team’s active roster; there’s speculation that this player in question could be rookie tight end Dan Gronkowski, aseventh-round pick who has been on the Lions’ practice squad all season.
