Hanson Can’t Explain Kicking Issues

Booth Newspapers talks today about the issues that kicker Jason Hanson has been having as of late:

Lions kicker Jason Hanson connected on his first nine field goal attempts this season -including four from 46 yards and longer. Since that time, though, Hanson has hit just 7-of-14. Five of those misses have come from 48 yards and beyond. “The thing that’s really making me lose sleep is that almost all of my kicks have started straight, and then they faded to the right. It’s not like I’m spraying them,” said Hanson, who missed a 54-yard attempt in Detroit’s 31-24 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. “I came back on Monday thinking ‘I’m quitting, I don’t know what I’m doing,” Hanson said. “Then I look at the film and it’s, wait a minute, I started it on the right line. The only thing we’re coming up with, and I’ve said this the last couple of weeks, is that I’m over-kicking.”
