2009 NFL Draft Redux

I will be the first to admit that I was a little more optimistic than I should have been at the beginning of the season. Thus, I am a little more disappointed in the 2009 campaign than most Lions fans right now. I will also point out that I refuse to join the legion of [...]

Lions Waive Fullback Terrelle Smith

PFT.com reports that the Lions today parted ways with fullback Terrelle Smith: On Sunday, Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs claims that, on the second play from scrimmage during Baltimore’s Week 14 game against the Lions, fullback Terrelle Smith targeted Suggs’ injured knee. Per a league source, the Lions waived Smith on Wednesday. It’s unknown whether there’s [...]

Smith Not Likley to Be Ready for 2010 Opener?

The Lions consider RB Kevin Smith “very” unlikely to be ready for Week 1 in 2010. Smith may not be 100% until 2011, which could change the Lions draft philosophy. Smith suffered the knee injury against the Baltimore Ravens in week 14 and the ligament damage will require surgery.

Lions Claim CB/KR Brian Witherspoon Off Waivers

The Lions today claimed cornerback and kick returner Brian Witherspoon off waivers. He was a member of the Jaguars. The Lions must release a player from their roster to make room for Witherspoon but that move is not expected to be one of Detroit’s rookie returners, Aaron Brown or Derrick Williams. An undrafted rookie in [...]

William Clay Ford, Jr. Not Following The Lions

William Clay Ford, Jr. was in Washington to meet with President Barack Obama and submit to the Commerce Department a list of recommendations on ways to revitalize the economy developed at a Detroit business summit. Asked to assess the Lions, Ford said shoring up the automaker’s finances and market share over the past two years [...]

Lions Agony

It’s the kind of game where once things started going wrong, the avalanche was not to be averted. The tipping point was a long touchdown reception [...]

Lions Laid Out by Ravens 48-3 in Baltimore

The Lions might as well have not even gotten off the bus Sunday. In front of a sellout crowd in Baltimore, the team was beaten badly by the Ravens, 48-3. The team was outgained 548 to 229, and Ravens RB Ray Rice ran for 166 yards and a score. “There’s not anybody going live with [...]

Kevin Smith’s Key to Success

It’s no secret that the Detroit Lions’ running game is struggling and there are three main factors contributing to the struggles. The Lions’ have had injury and ineffectiveness plague the guards this season. They started five players at both guard positions and their best guard, Stephen Peterman, is out for the year. Secondly, the Lions [...]
