Lions Extend Shaun Hill’s Contract

The Lions have reached an agreement to extend Shaun Hill’s contract for one additional year.  Hill was acquired from the 49ers for a 2011 7th round draft pick with one year left on his deal.

Hill was a big pickup for the Lions because of his knowledge of Scott Linehan’s offense, his starting experience and his team-first attitude.  This move assures the Lions will have Hill as the main backup behind Matthew Stafford for two seasons.  There was concern that Hill, who has started 16 games over the last two seasons, would leave after the 2010 season in pursuit of a starting position.
