Gosder Cherilus Still Expected to Open the Season at Tackle

MLive.com reports that even though he likely will have issues, the Lions are still expected to start Gosder Cherilus at tackle to start the season:

Lions offensive tackle Gosder Cherilus is still expected to be the starter when the Lions open the regular season because, right now, he’s their best option. Backup Jon Jansen is more consistent, but Cherilus is more athletic at this point in their respective careers. The problem is focus – or the lack of it as for whatever reason, Cherilus drops his concentration during games and there’s really no rhyme or reason to it. For the offensive line – a unit that has to play in sync and with choreographed chemistry – a wandering mind can be lethal. Because Cherilus was a first-round draft pick and a hefty investment was made in him, the Lions will exhaust all options before looking elsewhere.
