Stafford’s Out, but What is Hill’s Status?

As Lions fans come to grips with the fact that Stafford is definitely out this weekend, and wrestle with the fact that he’s most likely out for the season, the focus needs to shift to the more immediate concern…what is Shaun Hill’s status?

Hill is probably the best backup quarterback in the league, and he played at a high level when Stafford was out the first time.  However, he broke his left arm after a cheap shot by the Giants  on October 17th.  The Lions proved they could compete with Hill in the game, but can they compete with Drew Stanton?

In a somewhat telling move,t he Lions claimed Zac Robinson off of waivers from the Seahawks which leads me to believe the Lions are concerned Hill can’t go this weekend and they need a backup for Stanton.  The other deduction is that Stafford is going to be placed on IR and they are bringing in a third quarterback for the remainder of the season.

The Lions not only became the first ever 0-16 team, they also single handedly prevented the Rams from joining them last season.  If the Lions have to start Drew Stanton, there has to be concern that they prevent another team from joining the 0-16 club.
