Avril Says He’s Not Intending to Ink His One-Year Tender

The Free Press reports that Lions Cliff Avril has no intentions as of now to ink the one-year tender that the Lions gave him last week.

Cliff Avril has no immediate plans to sign the one-year tender offer the Detroit Lions made him this week, and if the third-year defensive end has his way, he won’t sign a one-year deal at all.

“I’m definitely excited that I can be in Detroit at least one more year,” Avril said today. “I kind of want something long-term, but we’ll work toward that still.”

The Lions have started sending out qualifying offers to three-, four- and five-year players who could be free agents under the next NFL collective bargaining agreement.
