Ndamukong Suh – Lions Can Go 16-0 in 2011

Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was asked during an appearance on the NFL Network on Monday what the future holds for the Lions.

“I don’t see there’s a reason why we can’t be 16-0 as long as we put in that hard work throughout – I don’t know if we’re going to have OTAs but throughout camp and getting ready for that 2011 season,” Suh said. “As long as we stay healthy and are putting in that work, I think we should be happy with what we end up with.”

Despite his confidence – the 2007 New England Patriots are the only team to go 16-0 in NFL history – Suh, the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, admitted the Lions have some holes to fill.

Asked to play general manager and identify which areas need improvement on all four NFC North teams, Suh pointed to the Lions secondary.

“I think definitely our secondary and cornerbacks,” he said. “I think we have a good core and I think they’ve (done) the job to help us throughout the season, but I think we need some steady cornerbacks (with) the type of talent that we have in the NFC, the NFC North.”
