Lions Not Worried About Clemson DE Da’Quan Bowers’ Knee Injury

Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said Thursday that the medical condition of defensive end Da’Quan Bowers would keep him off the team’s draft board according to Chris McCoskey of the Detroit News.

“There is some concern about Bowers’ medical condition,” Mayhew said. “Our doctors have evaluated him and we don’t share that concern.” Bowers is considered a top-10 talent, but he had right knee surgery in January and there are conflicting reports about how ready he will be next season and beyond. Some reports claim he might need micro-fracture surgery in the future and that his NFL shelf life could be less than three years. “He’s not in pristine physical condition, according to our doctors,” Mayhew said. “But we are not concerned about his health in terms of playing football in the future.”
