Lions Latest Team to Furlough Employees Due to Lockout

According to Tim Twentyman of the Detroit News, the Liuons are the latest team to furlough front office employees due to the lockout.

Lions president Tom Lewand had said in a conference call in March that if the labor situation remained unsolved following the April draft, the team “has plans in place for some changes that will occur,” with respect to salary reductions and furloughs for its employees. At that time, Lewand said any furloughs would include all employees, including him, GM Martin Mayhew and coach Jim Schwartz.

The furloughs (essentially two-week unpaid vacations) will be staggered so that the Lions team operations are still functional.
