Mikel LeShoure is Out for the Year

Tim Twentyman reported via Twitter that Mikel LeShoure tore his Achilles and will miss the 2011 season.  Per Coach Schwartz, LeShoure is expected to have surgery tomorrow.

LeShoure’s injury is a huge blow to the Lions’ offense as they now need to fill the short yardage and four minute offense void.  No word on if the Lions plan to sign somebody,  swing a trade or replace from within.

Losing LeShoure will be a devastating loss to the Lions running game. He was a very powerful down hill runner and would have been the perfect compliment to Best. The injury will take at least a full year to come back from, but there is still hope that he will make a full recovery by the start of next season.
