Lions sign RB Buckley; place Jerome Harrison on reserve list

One day after news broke that Lions running back Jerome Harrison had a brain tumor, the team moved him to the reserved list with a non-football illness according to Justin Rogers of MLive.com.

With the roster move, the Lions also announced that they have signed free agent running back Eldra Buckley.

Buckley, 26, signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee-Chattanooga in 2007.

The 5-foot-9, 207-pound running back has 36 carries for 111 yards and one touchdown with one reception for 10 yards in 32 games for the Eagles over the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Buckley also had 18 tackles and two forced fumbles on special teams for the Eagles.

Buckley was one of six running backs the Lions looked at this week, with James Davis, Charles Scott, Chauncey Washington, DeShawn Wynn and Jalen Parmele working out for the Lions over Wednesday and Thursday.

Davis signed a practice squad contract on Wednesday, but was placed on injured reserve the following day.
