Lions Bring Back OT Jeff Backus and QB Shaun Hill

The Lions have re-signed veteran offensive tackle Jeff Backus and quarterback Shaun Hill. Both players were re-signed to two-year deals.

A first-round pick out of Michigan he 34-year-old Backus has been remarkably durable throughout his 11-year career, starting 177 consecutive regular and post-season games. However, Backus suffered a torn biceps during the Lions’ 45-28 loss to the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs.

Hill has spent the last two seasons as the No. 2 quarterback behind Matthew Stafford, starting 10 games for an injured Stafford during the 2010 season. Over the last five seasons with the Lions and San Francisco 49ers, Hill has completed 61.7 percent of 941 pass attempts for 6,209 yards with 39 touchdowns and 23 interceptions.
