The Lions have picked up safety Ricardo Silva off the teams practice squad. To make room the club released cornerback Jerome Murphy.
Silva, a second-year player out of Hampton, was signed by the Lions as an undrafted rookie last season. He made the team’s practice squad in 2011 after an impressive preseason performance where he intercepted a pair of passes, including one off New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady.
Murphy, a 2010 third-round pick out of South Florida, was claimed off waivers by Detroit last week.
