The Lions have begun the process of dumping salary. And Kyle Vanden Bosch will be among the next to go, Mike Garafolo of USA Today reports.
The 34-year-old defensive end has been informed he’ll be released, according to a person informed of the impending roster move. The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the move was not official, the person was unsure when the move will be completed.
He has three seasons remaining on his current contract but only because he restructured last season, his base salary for 2013 is slated to be $5 million and he has two more years at $8 million in base salary.
Vanden Bosch had 16 sacks in the past three seasons with the Lions after following head coach Jim Schwartz from the Tennessee Titans.
