Lions will re-sign TE Kellen Davis; Rumors speculate over Fauria injury

by Trevor R. Browning

The Detroit Lions plan to re-sign tight end Kellen Davis, according to ProFootballTalk. That’s probably not good news for Joseph Fauria.

Fauria aggravated a left ankle injury that has troubled him most of the year in Sunday’s 34-17 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and could miss at least this weekend’s home finale against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fauria finished Sunday’s game with 17 receiving yards on two catches and a touchdown, but was in obvious pain in the locker room afterwords. He cut off his post-game interviews because of the pain.

“We’ll kind of see what’s going to happen with him,” Coach Jim Caldwell said Monday. “There’s always a few guys after a ballgame who are a little worse for wear, but we’ll see how he is after the next couple days or so.”

He missed six games with the injury earlier this year.

Adrian, Michigan native Kellen Davis already played in three games for the Lions this season, when Fauria, Eric Ebron, and Brandon Pettigrew were all dealing with injuries, but was soon released as that trio were returned to health.

In his first 3 games with Detroit, Davis, known for his blocking, did not record a reception.
Detroit (9-4) hosts the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. (NFL flex from 1 p.m.) before finishing the regular season on the road against Chicago and Green Bay.
