Lions starting tight end Eric Ebron left Saturday morning’s mock game with a lower right leg injury, Kyle Meinke of Mlive reports. He grabbed at the back of the leg, and put no weight on it as he rose to his feet.
He had to be carted off the field, and was hanging his head as he reached the tunnel.
Ebron has been nicked up this week, getting shaken up by a leg injury Wednesday night, then missing practice completely Friday. It is unknown whether the injuries are connected.
Ebron has been terrific throughout the offseason, and had been one of the offense’s lone bright spots before leaving the mock game. That includes one stretch of three straight catches, including beating Miles Killebrew up the seam on a 30-yarder to set up the unit’s first touchdown.
Unfortunately, that’s the life of a pro athlete – they’re always one play away from potentially ending their career.
