Lions Open the Season with a Big Win!

As a Lions fan this game was hard to watch. Downright DREADFUL at times. The first quarter left me wondering what kind of season we were going to be in for this year. The offense looked pedestrian. The special teams showcased a lethargic effort repeatedly. By the time the 2nd quarter started I had already begin to mumble our famous slogan, “Same Ole Lions”.
Then something AMAZING happened. Glover Quinn picked off Carson Palmer. The highest paid player in NFL history, Matthew Stafford, proved his value on a 3rd and long scrambling for 15 yards for a much needed first down. That drive ended in a touchdown pass to Marvin Jones Jr putting the Lions on the board.
The Lions never let up, never gave up, and never backed down from then on. I could spend time highlighting each meaningful play, but the game ball for today’s game goes to the entire DETROIT LIONS DEFENSE!!! They kept the team in the game and made big play after big play just when the team needed it the most. 5 total forced turnovers, with 4 successfully going are way including a big pick 6 to seal the game (3 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery).
Kenny Golladay struggled early, but had his Megatron moments scoring two touchdowns. Golden Tate continued where he left off and Stafford put up a solid performance throwing 4 touchdowns. It’s early and changes need to be made to improve the team (penalties, special teams, personnel, etc.) but, I’m confident after today’s comeback victory this will not be the “Same Ole Lions” this year!!!

Well at least not for another week!!!
