Defensive End Kerry Hyder Coming Back to the Lions after Inking His Free Agent Tender

Defensive end Kerry Hyder signed his exclusive rights free agent tender, assuring he’ll be back with the Lions this fall, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Hyder led the Lions with eight sacks in a breakout 2016 season, but missed all of last year after tearing his Achilles tendon in the preseason.

He said in January he was “extremely confident” he’d be able to recapture his 2016 form.

“I’m looking forward to coming back,” Hyder said. “It’s just a small bump in the road on a long journey. I’m not even worried about it. Of course going through it, it was tough initially. But I’ve accepted it and I’ve moved on and I’m looking forward to the 2018 season and I know I’m going to be back better than ever.”
