Report: Stafford to miss 2 to 6 weeks with sprain

As if being cheated out of a win by the refs isn’t bad enough, the Lions were dealt another blow Sunday with the injury to starting QB Matthew Stafford in the loss to the Bears in Chicago.

Stafford hurt his left shoulder, and gave way to Shaun Hill who should have been the hero when he threw what was a clear TD pass to Calvin Johnson in the final seconds of the game.

Reports from Peter King and other media sources say that Stafford has a 2nd degree sprain of his AC joint on his left shoulder, and will miss anywhere from two to six weeks.

The QB was hurt after the Bears went up 14-10 when he was hit in the shoulder by Bears DE Julius Peppers as he dropped back to pass and landed on it, the ball coming loose in the process.

“I don’t know, we’ll see,” Stafford said after the game about playing next week vs Philly. “I will try, though.”

If King’s report is correct, it doesn’t sound like Stafford will be around for awhile in 2010.
